As you can imagine, we get some fairly intense, difficult calls here in our office.
Every week we get a call from a woman who has been diagnosed and cannot afford the next step in her care plan. She's panic stricken and can't imagine how she's going to figure that out, let alone be able to absorb her treatment plan. Other calls come from women who cannot take in that they've just received a diagnosis -- they need a moment to share it with someone, speak it out loud, talk to another survivor to hear a voice say, "you've got this." But today was not one of those days. Today was one of those days where you got to smile because one of our survivors got to volunteer again with us. Did I mention she's a two-time breast cancer survivor? Today she showed up in our office, radiant, recovering, ready and willing to accompany another radiant survivor to hand out posters and rack cards for our Pink Ribbon Run. It was joyful to see them together. And what a poignant reminder of the power of survivors. To all of those who are fighting, going through treatment, celebrating wins big and small, our Pink Ribbon Run is in honor of you. <3 - db
