You’re invited to join our memory wall.

We’ll light the candles — you can join in from wherever you are with your own candle or way of honoring your loved ones.

Join us on New Years’ Eve with our Hope Lights the Way Candle Vigil where we’ll honor women in treatment, the survivors, the metavivors, the thrivers, warriors, pre-vivors, and those who live on in our memories.

You can fill out our form (<- click on the pink) and we’ll add her name on our site with any message you’d like to add in her honor or memory. We’ll light a candle for all of those named, their loved ones, care givers, medical teams, those in our community who donate to make a difference, show up as volunteers, and work for agencies that stand up for those who experience and are affected by cancer.

YES! You can add your own name (please do!) so we can honor you and your experiences.

Watching My Friend Pretend Her Heart Is Not Breaking

On Earth, just a teaspoon of neutron star
would weigh six billion tons. Six billion tons
equals the collective weight of every animal
on earth. Including the insects. Times three.

Six billion tons sounds impossible
until I consider how it is to swallow grief—
just a teaspoon and one might as well have consumed
a neutron star. How dense it is,
how it carries inside it the memory of collapse.
How difficult it is to move then.
How impossible to believe that anything
could lift that weight.

There are many reasons to treat each other
with great tenderness. One is
the sheer miracle that we are here together
on a planet surrounded by dying stars.
One is that we cannot see what
anyone else has swallowed.
